So what’s with all of the hype around Raising Cane’s? Quite simply, they make excellent fried chicken. Their menu focuses on chicken fingers, along with a few sides like fries, coleslaw, and Texas toast, and classic Southern drinks like sweet tea. The prices range from under $2.00 for a single chicken finger to more than $400 for a tray of 300 chicken fingers.

What Is Raising Cane’s?
According to the company lore, the idea for the restaurant came about when founders Todd Graves and Craig Silvey were at different universities. At the time, Todd worked at a chicken finger restaurant. The two collaborated to write a business plan for a fast-food restaurant that only sold chicken fingers. Craig submitted the plan for a course and received a C- grade.
That same business plan was repeatedly rejected by potential investors. Todd and Craig decided to save up money to start their business doing manual labor and then applied for a loan through the Small Business Administration (SBA). Using this funding, the two men opened up the first Raising Cane’s restaurant in Baton Rouge, near the campus of Louisiana State University.
Raising Cane’s – now owned by Todd – has a cult-like following. It has long been a staple in the South, where its restaurants were predominantly located. More recently, it has been expanding across the United States and the world, drawing huge crowds of “caniacs,” as its fans are known.
Why is Raising Cane’s so popular? It has a simple menu – but it does everything really well. In fact, Thrillist named Raising Cane’s as the best fast-food chicken in America. In fact, they even ranked it above fellow Louisiana chicken restaurant Popeye’s!
